Bridesmaid

Throughout the ages, a Bridesmaid is customary part of the wedding, and is usually a close friend or sister. In the olden times, the Bridesmaid’s purpose would be to protect the bride against evil by wearing similar clothing as the bride, so the evil spirits would take her instead.

In the present, the Bridesmaid position holds a slightly differed role. Being a Bridesmaid holds fun and exciting tasks even before the wedding begins. Often, you help with setting up events like the bachlorette party, as well as preparing the bride for the upcoming day.

Some Bridesmaid tips and Duties:

If the bride asks about helping her with ideas on where to have the wedding, you, as the Bridesmaid, can help her with her ideas. You might even want to volunteer to drive so she can focus on the locations she wants to go to.
If you have great penmanship it is always nice for you, the Bridesmaid, to volunteer to address at least some the invitations if the bride agrees. This will greatly help ease the burden of the bride to accomplish these long tasks.
Your friend may need help in ordering and choosing decorations and favors. Your opinions as the Bridesmaid and friend, may be helpful in making decisions for narrowing down choices and making sure the decorations are in on time for the wedding, shower, and bachelorette parties.
Be a good communicator with information. It’s not uncommon for the Bridesmaid to be asked about information regarding the wedding. And the bride’s friends and family would greatly appreciate any other information and confirmation concerning the wedding.
Always look for the unexpected since it is common for the most uncommon things to happen (i.e, something falling down at the altar). If you are close enough, fix what needs to be fixed so the bride, groom, and everyone else can enjoy the ceremony.
Last, but not least, be a supportive bridesmaid and provide the moral support the bride may need, and be a good listener in this stressful time for your friend.
