Wedding Speeches

When it comes to wedding speeches, there are three generally customary speeches involved the wedding. They are: the bride's father's speech, the bridegroom's speech, and lastly the best man's speech. Other speeches are not required or expected, but they can be a great addition to the wedding. Below are things that can be included in speeches giving by the bride's father, bridegroom, and the best man.

The Bride’s Father’s Wedding Speech:

The brides father’s speech is often called upon by the best man, in order to propose a toast of 'health and happiness to the bride and groom’. Before doing so he would normally welcome the grooms parents, relatives of both families, any other guests, as well as welcome the groom into his family in the speech. He should also say a few words about his daughter in the speech, since it is her special occasion.

The Bridegroom’s Wedding Speech:

The bridegroom’s speech, is made on behalf of his bride. The bridegroom uses this time in the speech to take the opportunity to thank his parents for the love and care they gave him in his younger years, and for the start they gave him in life, along with any other wishes among his family, friends, and bride. If there are any close family members who could not attend because of illness, it’s polite for him to mention it in his speech, and ask for their good health. To conclude his speech, the bridegroom will often propose the toast of the bridesmaids, and thank them for a job well done.

The Best Man’s Wedding Speech:

It usually the best man's duty to respond to this toast on behalf of the bridesmaids. His speech is usually that of a fun and lighthearted nature. Included in his wedding speech, is the usual thanks and well-wishes for the bride and groom. The best man’s speech is often considered the highlight of the reception.
